Firearms training for armed citizens across Mid-Michigan, taught by a USCCA Training Counselor.
Ghostrider Defense teaches personal defense the way it actually gets used: awareness first, avoidance and de-escalation next, and the shooting skills last, because that is the order the day is most likely to need them.
Classes are built to hold several skill levels in the same room. New gun owners get coached from the first safety rule forward, and experienced shooters get a legal section that goes further than most CPL classes do. All instruction is hands on. Nobody is parked in front of a video.
Beyond the CPL class, Ghostrider Defense runs its own advanced defensive pistol courses and takes on private and customized training for corporate and church security teams.
Mike Kasper
Founder and chief instructor
Mike is certified by the NRA in Basic Pistol, Personal Protection in the Home and Personal Protection Outside the Home, and by the USCCA in Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals. As a USCCA Training Counselor he also certifies other instructors.
He is a graduate of MAG-40 with Massad Ayoob and of the Andrew Branca Law of Self Defense course. That training is why his classes spend real time on the difference between reasonable force and deadly force, what a prosecutor will want to know, and how an encounter with law enforcement is likely to go.
He wrote the Ghostrider Defense advanced defensive pistol curriculum himself, and designed every course to let each student progress at their own pace.
Who else you may train with
Ghostrider Defense also trains and certifies its instructors in house. Doug Young teaches alongside Mike and brings NRA and USCCA firearms instructor credentials, emergency first aid instruction, and service as a combat veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
Live fire runs with more than one instructor on the line, which keeps the student to instructor ratio low and the range time useful rather than rushed.
